Editing
At Keelestuudio, proofreading is already included in the translation process – be it human translation or a blend of human and machine translation. Our editors ensure that the translated text is grammatically and terminologically accurate and its style aligns with the original text. Professional editing largely defines the final quality of the translation.
Editing can also be ordered as a standalone service. We edit both translated texts and native content.
Depending on the purpose of the text, editing can be more or less comprehensive. During proofreading, we check your text for grammatical accuracy, language use, and sentence structure. Professional editing also includes checking the terminological accuracy of the translated text.
Machine translation post-editing (MTPE) is a process where a human editor corrects and refines machine-translated text. This includes checking grammar, spelling, style, and terminology, as well as adapting the text to the cultural and linguistic norms of the target language. The goal is to make the machine translation understandable and easily readable while preserving the meaning of the original text.
Depending on the purpose of your text, you can choose a more or less comprehensive solution:
Light post-editing focuses on correcting obvious errors, such as grammar, spelling, and major terminological inconsistencies. Text edited this way is understandable and meets the basic requirements of the target language without focusing significantly on style, idiomatic expressions, or the finer nuances of the text. The aim is to achieve a ‘good enough’ translation quality, suitable for situations where your time or financial resources are limited, or where stylistic elegance is not a top concern.
Full post-editing is a more thorough process where, in addition to correcting obvious mistakes, the editor focuses on the style, tone, and cultural context. The goal is to bring the machine-translated text as close to a high-quality human translation as possible. Full post-editing requires deeper linguistic and cultural knowledge and more detailed work with the text.
